Moinitor Services for Your Credit Score
Credit monitoring is very important for anyone who is actively using credit. Any individual who has a credit card, car loan, home mortgage, utility bill or other credit account should ensure that they use a credit monitoring service. Credit monitoring services are available from a number of companies and protect an individual consumer from credit fraud, identity theft and a number of other problems that can occur!
Equifax
Equifax has one of the most detailed credit monitoring programs available. They allow a subscriber to be notified any time their balance changes on a Equifax monitored credit card. Also, individuals can have updates sent directly to their mobile phone about their credit report. Individuals who use Equifax credit monitoring can also receive a free copy of their credit report from each credit reporting agency. Finally, consumers receive their Equifax credit score. Equifax credit monitoring also comes with a $1,000,000 insurance policy in case your identity is stolen.
FreeCreditScore.com
Free Credit Score dot com may be one of the most well known credit monitoring companies. Individuals are able to monitor all three credit bureaus as well as access their Experian credit score. Free Credit Score dot com does not allow a consumer to monitor Equifax and Trans Union credit reports themselves. The system is instead setup to monitor Experian reports by itself only. This can be a negative aspect if individuals want to monitor other reports independently.
Identity Lookout
Identity Lookout is a strong option for individuals who only want to have an option of monitoring for identity theft. Identity Lookout monitors the three credit bureaus, looks for majors changes in a credit report such as a new account being opened or a large increase in a balance on an account. Identity Lookout does not provide access to any credit scores for a consumer. However, Identity Lookout will provide an Experian credit score for $1 per request from a consumer. Identity Lookout also provides a $1 million insurance policy to cover any identity theft costs that are incurred by a consumer.
Experian
Experian provides a very basic monitoring service for all three major credit reporting bureaus. However, individuals only will receive a daily update and notifications of major changes. Customers do not have access to their credit score or credit report. This is a very basic option for customers looking for something that is very bare bones.
True Credit
True Credit does not provide the actual credit scores like other services. However, it provides the next generation score known as the Vantage Score. All three credit bureaus are included in the monitoring service that is provided. Percentile scoring is used by True Credit which allows individuals to monitor their credit score much more closely.
My Fico
My Fico is the only service to provide consumers with all three of their real credit scores directly from the credit reporting agencies. However, the daily monitoring is severely lacking. Equifax is the only company monitored and any other credit reporting agencies will not be reported to My Fico.
