A Comprehensive Guide to Credit Repair

Are you aware of your credit score? Well, it’s important for you to know about your credit score as it allows you to evaluate yourself as a borrower. Recently I found out that a good credit score can be real helpful in saving hundreds or in some cases even thousands of dollars and that too in a single year.

Well a score that is anywhere between 640 and 750 can be rated as good. And if you have a score that exceeds 750, then I would rate is as excellent. Now the score from 600 to 640 can be considered as fair. But you are in deep waters if your score is below 600.

Ok, so you have found out your credit score and unfortunately it is below 600! Well, buddy not to worry as today there are a number of options that can help you in fixing your credit score. There are a few tips that can contribute in raising your credit score:

  • One of the best mantras is credit report repair. In fact, it is the credit report that is used for deriving your credit score. You can start immediately by fetching an online copy of your credit report. Your next step is to mark out all the negative items such as bankruptcies, collections, late payments or any other. And then its time to take care of all of them!
  • Consolidation of your debts helps immensely. This is especially helpful for those who possess a number of credit cards. Too many credit cards are likely to deteriorate your credit score. Possessing more than five credit cards can be problematic. Hey! Don’t dash to cancel your credit card accounts right away. Just sit down and make a list, as it is wiser to cancel newer accounts prior to the older ones. This is because the older credit card accounts usually exhibit a long record of payments, which casts an immensely positive impact on your credit score.
  • Make sure that you pay down all your existing credit cards to below half of their limit. For instance the limit of your credit card is $2000, then you require getting the owing balance below $1000. You can also apply for a consolidation loan so as to pay off all those high interest credit cards. This really helps in improving the credit score.
  • And last but not the least; your bills should be paid in a timely manner.

These tips have helped a large number of people to combat with their credit repair issues. Hope they work for you too!
